PLANNED OUTAGES

2/18/15 9am through 10am Reboot/patch application of our mail/dns server

As had been the case late last week, we continue to experience a load issue on our main Grad Net mail and dept. DNS server. This might be a hardware-related problem. We will be applying some patches that might help with the issue, and as part of the procedure, we will need to do a system reboot and reconfiguration.

Due to the possible inclement weather expected on Tuesday, we are going to wait until Wednesday morning to do this reboot.

Some of the patch processing might bring the actual full reboot time to upwards of an hour.

Weather permitting, we plan to begin the reboot/patch application process on Wednesday morning at 9am (at a time when we can reach the hardware vendor, if necessary.)

So, what how does this affect mail and DNS?

For mail, incoming CS mail will be queued up on another server until our main mail/DNS server is back online. Unfortunately, outgoing mail service through the CS server will be unavailable during this reboot/patch application time.

For DNS, DNS calls might be slightly delayed as your client would fall over to its secondary (non-CS) DNS server.

We will update here when things are back to normal.
