'''''FINAL UPDATE:  5/19/16 10:15am'''''  blaze is back up and all services have returned to normal!  :-)

'''''UPDATE:  5/19/16 9:44am'''''  We continue to work on the solution to our blaze filesystem snag as referenced in our prior update.  However, are noticing issues connecting to the main www.cs.jhu.edu webserver as well (slow connection.)  We do not know if that is related to the blaze outage in anyway, but we are looking into it.  [https://support.cs.jhu.edu The CS IT Support Wiki] continues to operate as usual.

'''''UPDATE:  5/19 16 9:15am''''' - We ran into a major snag with a blaze filesystem during the planned service outage (below) and are attempting implementing a solution to resolve the issue.  This might take an hour.  We will update if the issue continues past this time, and we apologize for the delay.

During that time, there will be no CS email service in or out of the CS Grad network. You will not be able to send or receive mail (IMAP/POP/etc.) through blaze (smtp.cs.jhu.edu/pop.cs.jhu.edu) or via webmail during that time. Also, DNS might be slow or non-existent, depending upon your client's own configuration.

PLANNED SERVICE OUTAGES

Planned Service Outage

WHAT: blaze.cs.jhu.edu (CS Grad/Research Net's mail server, NIS server, and dept's DNS server) will be rebooted.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 24, starting at 7am. Reboot should take around 10 minutes or less, but, we're going to say the process might take up to an hour, just in case any issues arise.

DETAILS: One of our main servers, blaze, requires a reboot to activate some settings.

Grad Net Lab Linux systems (masters1 through masters16, gradx, and gradz) may experience a short delay as their NIS service connects to a different server.

Any updates (delays, etc.) will be found on this page.
