To receive CS e-mail via POP, you must set your mail client to use Secure POP.

Configure the following settings on your mail client:

  • Server Name: pop.cs.jhu.edu
  • Port: 995
  • Security Settings: SSL (Checking SSL will probably automatically set the correct port number of 995.)

Also, you'll want to decide whether to set your client to either keep messages on the server or to remove messages from the server when downloading them via POP.

IMPORTANT: Please keep your inbox small. Remove e-mail that you no longer need, and file needed e-mails into mail folders. Therefore, if you typically keep all your e-mail on the server, consider downloading them to your own machine and removing them from the server every so often. If you download them to your own machine, you might want to make a backup of your e-mail directory./files.
